Plenty of Goals in Sunday Twilight Special

For a change, Admirals do most of the scoring

March 3, 2003

The Admirals posted their largest margin of victory in nearly a year by beating the Ice Hounds 8-2. The Ads avenged a 5-2 loss to the Hounds earlier in the season. Adrian Abramshuk led the way with 3 goals and 1 assist. Dick Barr scored 2 goals and in typical fashion could not finish off the hat-trick. Kyle Johnson was excellent in goal, and recorded his first point of the season with an assist. We would be remiss, however, if we didn't note the extremely soft 2nd goal scored by the Ice Hounds which we all agreed was Kyle's fault.Dan Gerhan and Brad Simon each added 2 assists, while Steve Fitz and Don Zdrazil scored a goal apiece. Team captain and inspirational leader Apur Patel scored his first goal of the season, and added 3 assists. Team statistician Kevin Joseph noted that the Admirals have notched their three victories without Sach Darji in the line-up which goes against conventional wisdom. Leah Hiniker could have scored twice if they awarded goals for hitting the post.

The Admirals scrimmage Tier D2 leading Knights on Thursday March 6, before resuming league play against the Roadrunners on Sunday March 9.
