Admirals drop a close one on Boxing Day

A late third-period goal kills chance of Admirals comeback in tight game

December 26, 2004

The Admirals hoped to reach .500 for the first time this season in a Boxing Day game against the Blizzard. The Ads jumped out to an early lead on Otto Abramshuk's first goal of the season as he slammed home the opening goal from the high slot. The Blizzard took advantage of the Admirals running out of gas and scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead into the third period. The 10-15 people in attendance were entertained in between periods by the popular holiday tap dance on ice duo of Sach-a-Clause and his little elf Fitz. Clearly inspired by Sach-A-Clause's holiday message, Adrian Abramshuk scored in the third period to bring the Admirals within one goal. Any hopes for a comeback were dashed by a late Blizzard goal to put the game out of reach. Rob Jones turned away 39 shots in the loss as he single-handedly kept the frankly flat Admirals in the game. The Admirals hope to ring in 2005 with a win Sunday January 2 against the Mighty Northern. Limited number of tickets still available.
