Admirals start the second half of the season with a bang

A win and a tie against the top two in the tier.

February 20, 2005

After a disappointing 2-8 start that had the Admirals begging for answers, hard work by the team has finally paid off. First, a big win 4-3 over the auld enemy -- the Battlecats. The Admirals avenged a 9-0 stomping by the Cats in their first meeting, behind strong goaltending by Rob Jones. Jones played half the game without a goalie stick having snapped his trying to make a break out pass in the second period. Adrian Abramshuk scored two goals and assisted on a third.

In a pre-President's Day thriller at Oscar Johnson, Sach Darji commerated the holiday with a pre-game interpretative dance on skates of George Washington crossing the Delaware. The Admirals staked the Runners a 2-0 lead in the first period, as they came out flat. Following shrewd adjustments during the interval by captain Apur Patel, the Admirals came roaring back. Dan Berquist scored the first, a tip-in from the crease to give the Admirals life. Don Zdrazil secured the points with a late third period goal. Rob Jones shut out the Roadrunners after the first period with another excellent effort. The Admirals threatened in the overtime but could not find the net.

The Admirals return to action on Feb. 27 with a late night game against another tier front-runner, the Mighty Northern.
